Threshold Residential Services is thrilled to be taking part in The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) Direct Support Professional (DSP) retention payment initiative.
This investment from the Ohio DODD aims to assist Ohio’s developmental disabilities system in addressing the workforce crisis through retention incentives for DSPs. For our employees, this means our DSPs will be receiving quarterly retention bonuses as a result of their hard work and dedication to our clients.
“We’re excited to implement this program and continue to recognize our employees. They work so hard and are dedicated to our clients that it’s wonderful we’re able to show them even more appreciation for the work that they do,” said Chief Human Resources Officer, Jeanne Franco.
This retention payment program will generate approximately $143 million annually by bringing together the funding from county boards and a funding match from the federal Medicaid program. The initiative will directly benefit independent providers and DSPs of agency waiver providers.
As Threshold begins instituting these payments, we are excited to announce that we are offering our DSPs 3% more than the initiative requires. We value the work our DSPs give to our clients and because of that, we want to show appreciation for the time and dedication they give to us.
“When I started working for Threshold, I realized that not only am I helping people, but the smiles, hugs and thank yous I get back in return is more of a reward to me than anything else,” said Direct Support Professional, Alexis Hull. “The additional funding from DODD allows DSPs to focus even more on helping their clients reach their full potential. It’s an additional bonus on top of the feeling of knowing I’m doing something for other people.”
This initiative is a great step to recognizing the incredible work DSPs provide and Threshold is grateful to Ohio’s county boards of developmental disabilities and the Ohio Association of County Boards of Developmental Disabilities (OACB) for leading this creative and first-of-its-kind proposal.
