Day Program
Helping people learn, grow, and work together.
At Threshold, our Day Programs build skills, confidence, and friendships. We offer opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to learn job skills and take part in meaningful work—right in their communities.
Open Door Opportunities
The “Open Door Opportunities” Day Program recently completed a transformative $500,000 renovation. The redesigned space features accessibility upgrades, a modern kitchen, an upgraded laundry room, calming sensory environments, and improved facilities designed to support personal growth and mental wellness for program participants.
The Open Door Opportunities Day Program renovation was made possible through a collaborative funding model:
- $194,000 from the Special Needs Pooled Trust remainder account, managed by Arlington Heritage Group
- $137,000 from the Threshold Foundation, allocated as part of its planned dissolution and earmarked for the renovation
- The remaining balance is funded by TRS capital investments
The Corner Store
Individuals working at the Corner Store get exposure to working in a general retail setting. Our clients learn customer service techniques, inventory management, cleaning skills, and how to run a cash register. Community members dropping by are always greeted with a smile and a friendly hello when they visit our individuals working at the East Palestine Corner Store.
The Detail Shop
Individuals working at the Detail Shop are engaged in providing automotive detailing services for customers in the community. Inside, outside, wash, wax, and protective coatings; Threshold Detail can meet your car care needs!
Lawn Crew
For our individuals who like to work up a sweat! The Threshold Lawn Crew operates small 3-6 person lawn crew services that not only provide a paycheck but teach our individuals the aspects of lawn maintenance. Our Lawn Crew uses a tiered training program where we focus on mastering the basics of lawn care and then progress up to running and maintaining your own riding mower.
Habilitation & Employment Services
We blend Habilitation and Vocational supports at our Adult Day Program locations—including Open Door Opportunities. These programs help people gain life skills, socialize, and take part in community activities—all with guidance suited to their needs.
We have several in-house operations where our clients can learn valuable vocational skills while earning minimum wage or higher. We currently have three sites in East Palestine where we offer pre-vocational and vocational training in addition to focusing on the soft skills that enable our individuals to live independent and meaningful lives.
If someone is ready for community employment, we also offer job coaching, assessments, and youth employment support. We became an Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) vendor in 2017 to expand these offerings.
Getting There
We know transportation can be a barrier—so we’ve got you covered. Our Non‑Medical Transportation (NMT) service includes six light transit buses and vans to bring individuals to and from any Adult Day Program location we run.
Whether someone is trying new experiences, practicing skills, or making new friends—they’re welcomed and respected here.
Stones of Affirmation
Be on the lookout for the stones of affirmation that our clients placed around East Palestine earlier this week. We hope the positive messages put a smile on your face!
