Governor-appointed Commission Approves Grant for Sensory Garden
ServeOhio, the Governor-appointed commission on service and volunteerism, recently announced grant awards to support 12 local ServeOhio Day projects taking place on or around June 25 and our very own Community Sensory Garden was one of those 12 projects! ServeOhio Day exists to encourage and promote hands-on volunteer engagement while school is out for the summer. The grants ServeOhio provides fund full service projects in eleven Ohio cities led by more than 500 volunteers.
Approximately 20 volunteers will add five benches to the Sensory Garden. The benches will increase the garden’s accessibility for our clients and neighbors. Volunteers will also assist in maintaining the garden by weeding and watering plants. Volunteers interested in serving in their community for ServeOhio Day or at any time throughout the year can visit Get Connected, ServeOhio’s statewide volunteer engagement platform or reach out to us by clicking on the “donate” button at the top of the page to let us know how you would like to extend your support directly to Threshold Residential Services!
