At Threshold Residential Services, the health and safety of the people we support is our top priority. Our Nursing Department provides expert, compassionate care every day.

Our dedicated nursing team includes Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, and is led by a Director of Nursing who oversees the health and wellness of every person we serve. These are professionals who show up, consistently, attentively, and with heart. For families navigating the challenges of aging or medical challenges, that kind of consistent presence is everything.

Care with Threshold Residential Services is always quality, compassionate care. Our nursing program goes above and beyond. Our nurses make regular wellness visits to each of our clients and accompany them to any medical appointment, procedure, or surgery.

For people with disabilities, we offer a 1:12 nurse-to-client ratio—meaning for every 12 clients, there is a licensed medical professional available. This level of personalized care is unmatched by any other developmental disability provider agency in Northeast Ohio. Our clients receive care from both nurses and DSPs. They can rest assured that they are not only being cared for by their dedicated DSPs, but they’re also getting regular visits and care from nurses who care.

What Our Nurses Do

Your Threshold nurse becomes a trusted part of your life. They will:

  • Manage personal health and medical needs with care and consistency
  • Accompany you to medical appointments so you never have to navigate them alone
  • Being available 24/7 for emergencies and on-call support
  • Check in on your overall wellbeing through regular wellness visits
  • Help you build and maintain a nutrition plan that supports how you want to feel and live

Physician Backed Care

I have worked with Threshold patients and staff since I began practicing in town 35 years ago. It is particularly evident to me just what a good job the nursing staff does when I see patients from other residence homes and the interactions between caregiver and resident isn’t nearly the same as what I’m used to seeing from Threshold. The Threshold nursing staff always comes prepared with medical history and appropriate paperwork. There is always meaningful interaction between the nursing staff and the residents. They make themselves available to residents’ family members with questions or concerns. My experience with the nursing staff has always been positive, and I believe it is the nursing staff that sets Threshold apart from similar institutions.

Physician Backed Care

I am always impressed by the caring and compassion for each resident by the Nursing staff. If there is an acute problem, the nursing staff always calls or brings the resident in so it can be addressed. They always treat the residents with respect and like they are family. As the Father of a special needs child, this is very important to me. I get to see most residents every few months and I like seeing the degree of independence they have with Threshold’s services in spite of their disabilities.
